Mount Kilimanjaro visit to France |

 “Mount Kilimanjaro” has been reassembled and will be going to France in June to visit a private railway Mini Trains Des Maraise in Normandy as well as other visits during 2010, which will be announced nearer the time. The engine has had the motion re bushed and aligned, the wheels re profiled, new brake blocks fitted and alterations to its’ exhaust system and is now back running on the Echills Wood Railway.

 In response to requests, one in particular from people wishing to lay there tracks in a more prototypical manner when using 6lb yard. rail with a view to smoother more controlled running.
The new product in question is a sole plate utilizing the footprint of PNP’s existing product PNR-3L but incorporating 3 degrees of cant, to enable the rail to match the angle of the wheel coning on the wheels of locomotives and rolling stock in 7 ¼” and 10 ¼” gauge, the first prototypes have been sent out for testing and will I feel sure live up to expectations.
The angle should improve running by minimizing flange contact ( squealing ) and hunting ( side to side movement ). The new sole plate with cant is stock code PNR-11J. The CAD drawing which will allow zoom and rotation where the difference between 3 degree and 2 degree wheel treads can be observed, and it shows that both can be accommodated successfully. |
