In response to requests, one in particular from people wishing to lay there tracks in a more prototypical manner when using 6lb yard. rail with a view to smoother more controlled running.
The new product in question is a sole plate utilizing the footprint of PNP’s existing product PNR-3L but incorporating 3 degrees of cant, to enable the rail to match the angle of the wheel coning on the wheels of locomotives and rolling stock in 7 ¼” and 10 ¼” gauge, the first prototypes have been sent out for testing and will I feel sure live up to expectations.
The angle should improve running by minimizing flange contact ( squealing ) and hunting ( side to side movement ). The new sole plate with cant is stock code PNR-11J. The CAD drawing which will allow zoom and rotation where the difference between 3 degree and 2 degree wheel treads can be observed, and it shows that both can be accommodated successfully.
