The tradition of small industrial narrow gauge tram-railways goes back as far as the beginning of the industrial revolution. Motive power always requiring a fair amount of human input, but as loads and distances became that much heavier and longer, horses and mechanical assistance were called upon.
By the beginning of the 20th century the internal combustion engine gained a foot hold in transport generally, and during the nineteen twenties made serious inroads into the narrow gauge industrial scene and is still around today in a few instances.
In the heyday of the clay, gravel, sand pit, quarry, cement works and mines not to mention steel works and countless other fields of activates small rugged and easy to start and maintain locomotives (often neglected and roughly treated) pushed and shoved, bashed and crashed countless tons of raw materials and produce from A to B and back.
PNP Railways are able to offer a fully working electric miniature in 5” gauge capable of hauling scale loads in working scale wagons, tippers, tankers and trucks. The initial set consists of a 5” gauge electric locomotive ‘Ruston’ ready to run, finished in either maroon or green. Optional extras, such as lightings sets, sound system, remote control can be ordered separately if required. An easy to assemble 4 wheel driving truck kit, a choice of a 5” gauge Tipper, Tank or Slate wagon, 10m, 5” gauge garden track kit and buffer stop kit.
This set is a beautifully crafted miniature three dimensional replica of this historic mode of transport that contributed so much to our industrial heritage, and economy of the nation, with the added advantage that you and your family and friends can ride with the freight.
