The first completed design is the LNWR 0-6-2T 'Coal Tank' in 5" gauge. This class of locomotive was introduced as a development of the 'Coal Engine' and was built in large numbers at the end of the 19th century. The locomotive's appearance followed the design developed by Ramsbottom, but it was altered gradually by Webb and later had features introduced by Bowen-Cooke. When the LMS took over the LNWR, there were further minor changes.
The model is detailed to produce a faithful functional replica of the full size prototype and was described in the Engineering in Miniature from October 1993 till May 1999.
