The Stroud Vintage Transport & Engine Club (SVTEC) staged the Annual Gloucestershire Vintage and Country Extravaganza at South Cerney Airfield in Cirencester, Gloucestershire between 2nd and 4th of August 2019.

The show is widely regarded as one of the biggest and best Steam, Vintage and Countryside events in the UK and attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors from across the country whilst actively raising thousands of pounds for both national and regional charities.

We had a special interest in the show as "Sir Percivale" was providing entertainment and enjoyment with his presence and was gainfullly employed all day, in fact well past closing time, hauling two carriages of passengers up and down a 150m length of track. "Percy" (No 772) is one of only two 10 ¼" gauge examples of the King Arthur Class locomotives, modelled on one of the "Scotch Arthurs" as they became known, being manufactured in Glasgow.

Although it required a bit of rain shower dodging we left "Percy" to his duties for a while to circumnavigate the entire site on foot taking in the myriad collections of modern and vintage vehicles, both civil and military. It was quite an astonishing collection, not just the sheer numbers, but the variety and high standards of maintenance on show. A lorra lorra love had gone into those exhibits.

A very special thank you is due to Mr & Mrs John Littlechild for their kind hospitality and especially Mrs L for a wonderful and well timed mug of northern brew.
